Three small-town residents find their lives changed by the introduction of a mysterious coded message. Other than residing in Chesterfield, Ohio, the three have very little in common—lawyer Caroline has just returned home, accountant Patrick never left, and fifteen-year-old Dora is dying to get out.

Caroline begins to suspect the codes are from Jude, a long-lost friend she shares with Patrick. It’s clear Jude has crafted a special competition for them, but why? As the three code-breakers discover how they are connected through music, they must band together to uncover Jude’s secrets—and confront their own pasts.
